Brothers Oliva formed this Progressive Metal band in Florida, USA in 1979. At first, band was called Metropolis, then Avatar. By the name of Avatar the band released EP "City Beneath A Surface" in 1982 and took part in some Heavy Metal compilations of that period.
Soon, it was found out that the name Avatar had already been used by another band, and Savatage name was created by them(it was a mixture of words Avatar and Savage) Jon Oliva took lead vocals on himself; Criss Oliva took guitar passages on himself; Steve "Doc" Wacholz came to the band as a drummer, and Keith Collins came to the band as a bass player (he was replaced by Johnny Lee Middleton).
During the period of 1987-1990 the band had been touring with Dio, Megadeth, Testament, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Venom The following album "Streets - A Rock Opera" (1991) became world wide known masterpiece. It is 70 minutes long hard rock opera based on a book written by band's producer Paul O'Neill about the darkest period of Jon Oliva's life, when the latter had been involved in drugs, alcohol etc. This album represented the band as quartet again - Chris Caffery left the band for 4 years.
Link above is the first song of the album, if you like it, try the rest of them from my server.

here we will exchange our rock knowledge with each other,
enlighten each other with new bands, discuss there style, blah blah.

juss throw whatever comes to your mind,
your likes, dislikes, even your experiences,
feelings, what touches you and what not.

"life it seems to fade away,
drifting further everyday,
getting lost within myself,
nothing matters, no one else..."
for rest listen to FADE TO BLACK by METALLICA.
